We are proud to announce that Lakmusz has become a verified signatory of the International Fact-Checking Network’s (IFCN’s) code of principles, after IFCN’s review had found that Lakmusz fully complies with the ethical and methodological standards set by the organisation.

These principles include:

– commitment to non-partisanship and fairness;
– commitment to transparency of sources, of funding and of methodology;
– commitment to open and honest corrections policy.

Lakmusz has joined the IFCN community of over 100 fact-checking organisations worldwide.

For each new applicant, the IFCN examines in detail whether the organisation’s operations meet the standards (and subsequently reviews annually whether approved members continue to adhere to the IFCN Principles). Lakmusz’s application was approved at the end of May.

In Hungary, so far only the French news agency AFP had carried out fact-checking activities as a verified signatory of IFCN’s code of principles (Lakmusz works with AFP in the framework of the HDMO project against disinformation).

We are proud that, after a bit more than one year of operation, Lakmusz became a member of IFCN international fact-checking community. As for the future, we are going continue working in accordance with IFCN standards and the editorial methodology and ethical principles detailed on our website, and publish quarterly reports about our activities in English.
